Wildlife

Ardea herodias (Great
Blue Heron) in Heron Cove
Residents at the Sanctuary live in harmony with their human
neighbors as well as an impressive host of wildlife. Nature lovers
interact with a menagerie of flora and fauna. Turtles, beavers and river otters have made their way along
the waterfront. The trees and shores are alive with a daily symphony
of birdsong from the calls of ospreys and red-tailed hawks. Ducks
and herons are regular guests in the Sanctuary’s many
coves.
And the meadows between the Sanctuary’s heavily
forested areas are filled with wildflowers.
Our conservation partnership with Audubon
International is dependent on keeping the Sanctuary an
ideal environment for homeowners, as well as the indigenous wildlife
for generations to come.
