In addition to traditional public schools, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools also have a number of magnet schools options in the area. Magnet schools have curricula that are either theme based to meet student interests, or which emphasize a particular educational approach. There are a number of magnet schools available to the Sanctuary students. Click here for more information. Charter schools are non-traditional public schools that are operated by non-profit organizations and governed by a Board of Directors rather than the local school board. Like traditional public schools, they are accountable to state standards in terms of student testing, but charter schools also have a little more freedom in curriculum development.
