Daniel Stowe Botanical
Gardens - perennial, azalea, conifer and other master-planned
gardens are complemented by trails, fountains, pavilions and other
features.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Parks & Recreation Department operates
22 parks in the county's west
park district, where the Sanctuary is located. Twelve
additional parks are in the nearby south
district of the county.
Seven Nature
Preserves provide a variety of facilities and programs for
both youth and adults. The closest nature preserve to the
Sanctuary, McDowell
Nature Center and Preserve, is less than 5 miles away and
has a full complement of environmental education and outdoor
adventure programs, as well as lake access, trails, and camping.
Ebenezer
Park is a county park offering public access to Lake Wylie.
Kings
Mountain State Park is situated on 6000 acres in northwestern
York County and Cherokee County and offers educational programs,
nature trails for hiking and biking, camping and equestrian facilities.
