Entertainment - Family Destinations
- Carowinds is
a 112-acre amusement park with thrill rides, theaters, concert venues,
and a 20-acre water park. Outside of normal park operations, special
events like the Halloween celebration Scarowinds make
the park a family destination through much of the year.
- Opening May 2010 is the NASCAR
Hall of Fame in uptown Charlotte. A theater, permanent and visiting
exhibits, transporter simulator, and racing simulator are just some
of the features of this attraction.
- Ray's
Splash Planet provides indoor water recreation when the weather
is unfavorable for outdoor water activities. This Charlotte-Mecklenburg
Park facility features a water slide, sprays, buckets, whirlpool
and adult fitness facilities.
- US National Whitewater
Center - 307 acres of woodlands is home to the world's largest
recirculating river, where visitors enjoy whitewater rafting adventures.
14 miles of biking, hiking and running trails, one of the world's
largest outdoor climbing facilities, climbing and kayaking instruction,
and a zip line are just some of the offerings, and Play-All-Day passes
are available.
